First the secret is to get it inspected and certified BEFORE bringing any helicopter in. This way nobody will complain while they're doing the inspections.

After that I had some who didn't know anything and when I started flying thought I was going to crash into their house, so I changed my approach and departures. Others thought I was making the noise every time the electric company flew over in their helicopter inspecting the power lines.

I quickly learned that all you have to do is give one person on each street a free tour ride and they'll convince everybody else it's safe and fun.

Of course there's always one who calls the state government but that's where you have to be sure you know your Regs. He tried to get me shut down due to noise but I proved that when I was on the ground the noise was muffled by the trees around my house. Then the same state government guy took measurements once I was in the air and that's when the FAA takes jurisdiction and they told them I wasn't violating any Regs so the state couldn't do anything.

After the first few months everything died down and I didn't have any more complaints.
