As I continue to wait for the ?59 to be flown to Canada for an import inspection (owner waiting for a weather window he feels comfortable with)...I?ve kept looking.
I came across a '62 in Trade-a-plane that Gremlin took the time to go inspect for me (see countless posts for how awesome this club is) in Kentucky.
PA Plane ? TTAF 4000 TSMOH 240(May?01) Paint 7+, Interior 4 VFR, No Xponder $22
KY Plane ? TTAF 3150 TSMOH 650 (1988) Paint 6, Interior 8, IFR, Xponder, Wheelpants, Horton STOL, $20

Based on Gremlin?s positive review?I now really like BOTH of these aircraft for obviously different reasons.
The KY aircraft has a much, much nicer interior, and is much better equipped for less cash?done deal right?
Well, I keep coming back to the engine being pretty important to keeping me in the air?and I?ve have much more confidence in a top notch $12,000 O/H done in 2001 with a new crank and cylinders.
I don?t think I?d ever fly enough to get my IFR ticket?but having a transponder is something I?d do within a year or two?and resale would likely be higher for an IFR plane ? score one for Kentucky.
The interior is nicer in the Kentucky aircraft?but I could always redo the PA interior on my own timeline and per my own taste down the road?as I plan to keep it for a long time ? Hmm?this is tough!
I sure am lucky to be able to be in this position to make this decision?so let?s have some fun with it...and a "public" thanks to Gremlin who took the time for me.
