Gee-Bee is a frequent poster on MooneySpace so I've seen the blow by blow go down. The FAA and Gee-Bee met and the matter has been settled with some wording changes.
Having seen some of his work, it's great quality, affordable, and available. The fleet is safer for his products, but I agree with the path the FAA took because that isn't always the case and it backs Kirk's point that it's serious business.
Another one I can see biting people are owner produced parts. The burden is higher than advertised when you get past simple aluminum sheets. You need design specifications to build it to what was originally approved.
