I've seen people who have a plane that hasn't flown for over 20 years look in trade-a-plane or any of the free online sources, compare model numbers, then set the price off of that. They clearly are not in touch with reality.

That may not be the case here, the reserve may be 7001 dollars, but still, the ad very plainly indicates that it will be a "my way or the highway" kind of sale.

Another factor here may also be the older generation's need for privacy more than money. They'd rather not mess with it rather than have someone in their barn for a month trying to get this thing to fly. I don't know nothing about that, though, I'm only 37, but I could understand it.
