I'm definitively going to get more serious about corrosion detection. Might spend next Saturday giving it as thorough look over as I can.

Unfortunately for me, is this "scrap value" discussion. We all know any mechanical item is worth more sold off individually than as a whole. The owner has outlined $1000 for the airframe, $4500 for the engine, and $1000 for the prop. Putting me in the $6-7k range before we even talk about those expensive Garmin units. And I can only guess those will be at minimum another $7k.
