No sales tax in Alaska, registration varies, but it is $75/year in the borough I live in.
Get this, even if you don't live in the Municipality of Anchorage, but you lease a tie-down space at Merrill Field (MRI) ... a Municipality of Anchorage airport, they tax you $75 for personal property, even though you don't own property in Anchorage, you're paying an airplane tax in your home borough, and you're already paying them for the lease!
The irony is that if you used transient parking, still consuming all of the same MRI resources, you wouldn't have to pay the tax. Pay for a tie-down and you owe tax?
