I'm curious, what broke on your seat back and how badly did the seat malfunction?

See the photo in my original post. The left bracket that attaches the seat back to the seat snapped off. Shelby told me that's common for that model seat after 40 years of wear and tear. The entire seat back is essentially one welded frame. You can't replace the bracket without re-welding.
I immediately jolted back about a foot. Fortunately, I was on the ground. In climbout or in IMC, this would not have been fun...
