Gatoraero answered me :" I do have the molds for the strut fairings on a 150 aerobat.Set of 4 fairings 79.95
Do not have the gear fairings but could make the molds. You would have to provide and atach the connector plates...."

I do not understand:You would have to provide and atach the connector plates.May someone tell me the same with other words?
Rossella is in USA and could make the order.

The gear fairings are split on the underside for easier installation, without removing the gear legs. The edges of the split are held together by a backing plate, or "nutplate", that you can either fabricate, or order new from Ce$$na (those ARE dollar signs)!

First, I would avoid Gator Aero if you need documentation on your parts for ENAC authorities. Gator Aero has never advertised their parts as certified by anyone (in fact, they are not).

Second, $79.95 is too good a price on a complete set of Aerobat strut fairings. $400 plus would be more like it. I wonder if Gator Aero is aware that there is a difference between regular 150/152's and Aerobats. Again, they aren't certified, and there is the question of quality! I don't know of anyone who has bought fairings from him.

Here is a short list of suppliers that you will find useful either now or in the future.

Plane Plastics. [planeplastics.com] Interior parts.

Texas Aeroplastics. [buyplaneparts.com] Interior and exterior plastic parts and fiberglass replacements.

Stene Aviation. [steneaviation.com] Click on "Produts". They are the source of many of the fiberglass parts sold by Texas Aeroplastics and others.

My thoughts,, Gator Aero supplies some pretty good stuff. I'm not so sure that one has to pay through the nose to get good parts that will work out quite nicely. I only wish he made brake fairings,, they be on in a heart beat,, and I bet the little 150 would fly just as well with the $50 part as compared to the $400 part. After all it's just plastics. Plane plastics is a good source,, still too expensive as far as I'm concerned, plus quite often they sell 1 piece as a fit all for several years. You buy the parts and find out afterwards that the parts don't quite work like they should, then you start fitting stuff to make it look good.

I understand your viewpoint. Price alone definately does not denote quality or fit. I've bought and used Gator Aero interior parts, and was pleased with the quality, although fit was no better than some of "his" (one person) competitors. "They" are not a big company, and production changes and tooling can be costly and time consuming, when you're only one person.

He told Franco he could build the molds, but how long will that take, and how accurate will they be when finished?

I'm more concerned with how much documentation Franco will need to satisfy ENAC (Italian FAA). Right now, you and I can clandestinely skirt the issue somewhat through the FAA and CASA (the regs are tightening and those days are numbered for me, BTW) but Franco may already need accurate documentation and certification, which would eliminate Gator Aero as a potential supplier!

Thank to you and Lionel, Gatoraero know the difference between 150 and A150,I am waiting for his answer about the time he need to do the fairings. Some one have his phone number?E-mail needs too much time. Rossella remains in USA till the 4 of may but if Gator do not succeed to do the parts I could have them by some Alitalia pilots later.About certification simply I do not think that the engineer at the next control will be interested in the new fairings. If he see it!

May you check these Texas Aeroplastic part numbers? Is it OK?Mistakes?
26-04-80A strut fairings
26-06-80A landing gear fair.
26-07-80A brake cover fair.
This is probably the well balanced and faster solution.
About Spruce instruments:

For a 1976 A150M Aerobat:

26-04-80A strut fairings will not fit! These are for NON-Aerobat. The Aerobat uses a wider, thicker strut. Until just a few years ago, Aerobat strut fairings were only available through Cessna!

Stene Aviation [steneaviation.com] has recently come out with a set of fiberglass replacement strut fairings for the Aerobat.

150/152 Aerobat Strut Cuff Upper Right SA-0421002-3 $82.50*
150/152 Aerobat Strut Cuff Upper Left SA-0421002-4 $82.50*
150/152 Aerobat Strut Cuff Lower Right SA-0522150-6 $82.50*
150/152 Aerobat Strut Cuff Lower Left SA-0522150-7 $82.50*

* PMA Approval Pending

I have been very satisfied with Stene products. Their's is a very thin and very strong fiberglass made with layers of closely woven material. They appear to be manufactured by vacuum bagging, and there is no excess weight, with a good finish.

I believe Aerofairings [aerofairings.ca] of Canada has these in ABS plastic, at about the same price. I have not dealt with them before.

-----------------------------------------------------------------

26-06-80A landing gear fair. Good number. These will work!

-----------------------------------------------------------------

26-07-80A brake cover fair. These should work.

-----------------------------------------------------------------

Aircraft Spruce is a very well know supplier in the states and I have always had fast and courteous service from them. I have no opinion on the parts you've listed from them.
