We will be driving down to Tucson area friday after noon, and will stay the night then sat morning going to the field to finish the inspection + paper work and pay. We will be around Sat and I plan to fly back to kprc early sunday.
Also saw somthing on another post about a 150 with a higher gross weight. This aircraft has placard on dash saying at some cg's it will be in normal cat. at 1760lb gross. Wonder if it was a sea plane or if there is some other way to have a gross higher than 1600lb (would climb REAL slow at my alt.on a warm day). Any one know more about the higher gross?

Is it a 150 horsepower conversion? They get a 10% gross weight increase.

Don't think it is the 150hp converson,we were on way back from Texas and looked at four 150s that day so only had time to look at log books quickly. When we get down there we will take a close look at the weight/balance paper work.

When you do a light weight change (under 1 lb like the fuel drain) is the stc still filed with the faa or only in the aircraft logs.

All STCs should be filed with the FAA. Weight & balance changes would stay with the plane. Recommended logbook entry on the belly drain says the weight and balance change is negligible.

If you install something with an STC (Supplemental Type Certificate), you're using that documentation as the acceptable data, and a Form 337 would be required. Even though it's a minor alteration, the approving data effectively changes the type design.

However, if you don't have a 337, that, of all things, is not a deal breaker. Simply a small paperwork issue that your mechanic can handle very easily (and inexpensively). Easiest way to get past that is to order the club belly drain kit. It comes with all the paperwork necessary to file a new 337. If I was your IA, I'd just file it as a new modification and be done with it.
