I thought I would start a new topic related to our club store products. If the moderators think this would be better somewhere else just do the move please.

I received my Fuel Gauge http://www.cessna150152.com/shop/viewitem.php?productid=29 dipper last week and put it to good use just yesterday. It fits well in the seat back pocket of my newly upholstered seats as well as my hip pocket when mounting the ladder to refuel.

The Fuel Gauge revealed that my left gauge is in fact reading low as when I dipped both sides had 5 gal. remaining.

I was surprised when I still overflowed the starboard tank thinking I was going to 8 gals. blush silly me. So the question is .... look at the pump total or look in the filler neck? Seems the latter will be more important.

Still a very valuable and cost effective device when considering our short fuel supply with standard tanks.

Does anyone have anything to offer on the club store item: Overhead Lighting System

I'm looking for input as the old cabin lighting and red flood do leave a bit to be desired.

Thanks for your input.

I have been using the club fuel gauge for a few months. Like every other dipstick gauge I have tried over the years it is not accurate. It is useful in judging the approximate "fullness" of the tanks- 1/4, 1/2 or 3/4ths full. I use it before every flight. Unlike the old tube style dipstick, the new one cannot accidentally slip into the tank when used by a butter fingered tester. To me this is required equipment.

The fuel gauge is a great piece of simple equipment. The media blasted side makes it easy to read. That bigger-than-the-cap top is an ingenious design.

The gascolator is solid. It's simple and easy to drain. The push-up strainer is much simpler than the stock plunger design. When my stock gascolator started to fail I though about buying the McFarlane repair kit. The cost was close to what I payed for a club gascolator. Now when the push-up drain fails it's going to be a $15 fix instead of a $150 fix. That said the gascolator always has a blue stain on the fittings. They seem tight. Maybe it was installed incorrectly? I've noticed other members with the same concern.

Verified Purchaser (as they say on Amazon)

Club Gascolator - 10 out of 10. In fact I just cleaned mine today. Pull cotter pin - bayonet open - check clear - bayonet closed and new cotter pin. 30 secs tops.

Club Belly Drain STC - 10 out of 10. Why the planes never came with this low point drain as stock - who knows but it is a must in my book.

Cig-Pen - 10 out of 10. Great replacement for the ashtrsys. Lighter and actually useful for holding pencils! Mine also came with an unadvertised bonus - a plastic knob/cover to go over the passenger door latch making it "bigger", tighter and easier to use.

Owning, Buying or Flying the Cessna 150/2 by Mike Arman. 10 out of 10. Gave me enough information and confidence to go out and know what I was looking at before engaging the expense of the mechanic on the prebuy.

Club Membership - 10 out of 10. One question answered in the forum and you more than saved your membership fee. And the friendship and abuse is an added bonus! whistle

I got all excited about buying the ashtray pen holder then noted my door panels don't have any. Has anyone added the holder by cutting into the blank area?

Overhead lighting mod? Anyone?

Glen,

The only answer I can give you regarding replacing the overhead light is Nulites [nulite.net]. No single overhead light can cover the panel like individual instrument lights can. If you fly at night, these are the best

On a new door panel - that's what I did. Cut the hole to put it in.

Thanks Mark, as the thread title might indicate I was hoping someone who has purchased the LED headliner mount offered in our store.

Not sure Nulights on my sparse VFR panel at present would make sense vs cost.
