Premature. No one here, including me (who has actually touched the thing) has had a look inside the airframe to make any judgements on any amount of corrosion. We can't even be sure the spots pictured are results of corrosion and not paint prep issues, and I was not about to go chipping away on someone else's airplane to find out. That is pre-buy territory, when the current owner has agreed to it being investigated further.

Hopes are dashed for now. Loan declined. I was expecting as much since I just took a small personal loan out to finish flight school. Oh well later I'll be looking again.

Thanks for all the help guys expect me to keep asking questions and hanging around. Even if y'all don't want me too :p

Perhaps for the best! The more time you spend "hoping", looking, and learning the better your decision will be when the time does come. There are plenty of nice 150's/152's on the market and they are not all the same. The one with exactly the options you're looking for is out there somewhere. Patience is a valuable virtue when shopping for the "just right" airplane.

Josh, I know how disappointing it can be to have to wait on something. But, just to give you some perspective... As expensive as it sounds, renting a plane to take to Clinton makes sense (and cents).

I pay $3600.00 a year for a hangar, $600.00 a year for a tiedown spot, and $1000.00 a year for insurance BEFORE I spend the first dime on avgas. Even if you rented a plane for a 25 hour trip (my average Clinton trip including the flight up and back and the fun flying along the way) and paid 100 bucks/hour wet, you're still money ahead.

Plus, if it breaks, it's their problem but still your inconvenience. So, hurry up and finish your license. That way, we can increase the size of the Texas Wing of the Cessna 150/152 Club. :-)

I was thinking along the same lines Gary but the draw of being an airplane owner is a strong one. I've wanted to fly since I can remember. Places in my area will defiantly be getting my rental business that's for sure smile

While the economics of renting make sense from a pure "bean counter" perspective, there are reasons why we own.

A lot of us put in our time with rentals early in our flying careers. Give it time and keep your eye on the goal!

Flying and airplane ownership have had a big influence on a lot of my decisions throughout my life. Decisions such as my career, it had to pay well enough for me to be able to afford flying, and where I bought my house were influenced by my dream of flight.

If you want it bad enough, you'll find a way to make it happen, eventually.

Josh don't give up I spent two years hunting before I pulled the trigger on my plane, then I joined the 150/2 group I could have saved some time if I joined first with all the help that you can find here. I am working on my ppl also and love flying my own plane .

The nice thing is that if a good one comes up here on the board and you remain active in the club, you'll be one of the first to know about it. Lot's of good advice in this thread.

Consider a partnership. If you can find the right partner it is well worth it, and when something breaks you only have to pay for half.

I've considered a partnership but because of me bein in the military it kind of complicates things when I have to move and I can't take the plane with me.

I have looked into Flying clubs around the Miramar area where I'm sopoused to go sometime next year and there is a military flying club very close to thebase. I think I will go that route when I get out there until I find a good plane and I can afford it.
