Check with AOPA Insurance too. Avemco is very high.

I use AOPA and very reasonable. Insurance costs vary depending if the plane is hangared , stored in a locked hangar, and the hours PIC you have.

I've got the airframe and engine logs. According to the airframe logs on 14 August of 2004 "treated airframe with corrosion x, wings fuselage, and control surfaces"

And the seats were replaced August of 2011 during the annual.

Another thought on the aircraft. $20,500 is a bit high with the paint and corosion issues.

You have some room to negotiate and since the annual is due, doing the inspection/annual as a part of the buy is additional leverage for you.

It depends on how motivated the seller is. The missing logs books are another concern. Get the history of the engine and the paper work on all the ADs. Just because they say it was done, does not prove it was done. Hopefully some of the info on the FAA CD history will help. Find out what shop worked on the plane and who owned it before. Even with the log books missing, the shops who did the work should have some records.

What you are up against here is the "emotional buy", and that is not a bad thing, but it does not have to cost you more if you do your homework. You have been infected with the "flying bug" and it is terminal.

"You can't loose what you don't have", and with a line of credit approved you can afford to shop around.Just don't drool in front of the seller, that will cost you $$$.

Please don't take this as that I'm raining on your parade, I just don't want you to make some of the past mistakes I made.

Good luck, and congratulations on your journey to the PPL.

John

Oh I'm not I'm looking for other birds while I'm doing this.

Such as this one.

A bit older with 1000 more hours on the airframe but the SMOH was less hours ago.

How much does AOPA want for renter's insurance. When I was taking lessons back in '95, Avemco had the lowest rate ($100/yr) for renter's insurance, but their rate for owners is much higher than AOPA's.

Right now I'm paying 430 a year I think to Avemco for renters as a student.

I'm doing a quote with AOPA for renters right now, just incase I can't do the buy an airplane thing this year frown

That looks like a niceun. The M-model will have the jack point on the gear leg, too. I hate they don't show pics of the interior & panel, though.

It's on the same airport I'm training at right now and in the same hangar area as my school. Woulnd't take but a phone call to stop and look at it next week.

I sent him an e-mail if he doesn't get back to me by next week I'll try to call him before I go in for school.
