Can someone please tell lme the best place to buy a landing light for my 1976 150M? I think GE 4314 is the right part number. Thanks, Bob Thomas 8W2

Try your local NAPA auto parts store. There is a store near me that carries GE aircraft lights (Part#4314). It seems they are also used locally as headlights for ATV's.

The other obvious place is Aircraft Spruce.
They have a wonderful website and are known for their
excellent service.

I just ordered two bulbs from Aircraft Spruce. My light in my 72 150L dumped on my second stop and go the other night just before reaching 22. Let me tell you that landing with no light on the ground is an 8.5 on the pucker scale if your not expecting it. Needless to say that ended my night practice and flying in general until the new bulbs arrive.

Let me tell you that landings with no light on the ground is an 8.5 on the pucker scale if your not expecting it.

Part of my instruction many years ago included quite a few landings without turning on the landing light. This was done mostly at MFR, which is a regional airport with all of the standard lighting one would expect. Since then I'm as likely to land with or without the landing light (taxiing is a different story). The real safety issues may be the ability the landing light gives you to see unwelcome objects on the runway and the increased visibiliy it projects to other aircraft or ground vehicles. Either way, the LL is there for a reason and it's a good idea to use it.

No big deal...I haven't used the landing light in 15 years. (of course, I haven't flown at night for 15 years....but who's keeping score )
