Something isn't right. Take a look at its registration info [registry.faa.gov] . Subaru engine, Experimental, Exhibition category.

Hung,

I've represented too many folks who bought "fresh overhaul" or "fresh annual", had horrendously expensive problems and wanted to sue someone ($70,000 worth of repairs in one case on a "fresh annual"). I'm conservative - in my opinion the odds stink. If I can't open up the engine and see what parts were used or know the people in the shop personally and get their copy of the work order and parts list, I do not trust a "fresh overhaul". I've simply seen too many less than honorable people selling airplanes.

I'd rather buy the airplane with a run out engine and have the overhaul done the way I want it done. With my Cardinal I bought the airplane with 2,200 hours on the engine. I flew it about 70 hours and didn't like the oil analysis trend so I had the overhaul done at a reputable shop. I flew it 1,000 hours with no engine problems. I sold it to a guy who has kept in touch and he's put nearly a thousand hours on it with the engine running strong.

There are a lot of airplanes out there at good prices, I won't even consider a "fresh annual" or "fresh overhaul" in this market.

Best regards,
Rick

It's always a craps shoot. Birdie had 300 hours on a field overhaul when I got her...and now the engine has about 1700 hours with excellent reliability, despite some fairly hard use. I've never babied the old Lycosaures and it continues to perform valliantly.

BTW: It's my understanding that the only legal fuselage tank I know of (from O&N) holds about 14 gallons and the ad says it has a 20 gallon fuselage tank. It would be interesting to see this airplane just to solve all the little mysteries!

It looks like Feb 24, 1998 it nosed over in a force off field landing with it's Subaru Legacy automobile engine. There is another photo from July 2001 stating it's 180hp Stratus Subaru-powered.

Let's see..nosed over..2 Subaru engines..now 150hp Lyc at bear minimum illegal due to lack of spinner. I don't think I need anything he's selling.

Yeah...pretty bad aren't we. However, if you ever go to buy a plane, just post it here and you will likely get all the gory details.

remind me not to post any photos of my plane or it's N number.
I would post that information on any plane I was planning on buying though.
