Does this mean you won't be taking your 150 to Clinton this year? I still plan to make the trip but the American CBP has changed the rules and now all aircraft large and small must submit an on line manifest no less than one hour prior to arriving at the US/Canadian point of crossing. This manifest replaces the old form 178. This online manifest must filed for both arrivals and departures. I did the tutorial on the CBP website for their eAPIS on line manifest and found it extremely hard to work with. They use the the same form for both arrivals and departures however it didn't allow me to input the country of arrival or departure unless it was in the US. The other frightening / intimidating thing is the extreme fines ie: $5000 for any error on the form such as a typo or erroneous day/date input.

I hope there will be some clarification on the form so the proper inputs can be made.

I've signed up for Clinton this year, but if I'm still missing that warm and fuzzy feeling about eAPIS, around departure time - I'll drive to Clinton instead. Those fines scare me.

San Martin, California to Clinton, Iowa is a loooooong flight. It would be fun as heck, but I don't think I have the time, energy, or bandwidth to plan such a flight. Plus, my wife wouldn't come along. I look forward to seeing y'all at Clinton/Oshkosh, but I'll be flying commericial, driving a rental car, and staying in hotels.

After flying Birdie to CWI twice I have to say ANY way you can get to Clinton will still afford you one of the most enjoyable and friendly fly-ins anywhere. Jo Ann and I intend to be there this year, but as part of a road trip.

Great news Dan! It will be really good to see you guys again. It's too bad you won't have Birdie there to show the rest of us up. But, you can do it at the Alvord. grin

Bengie,

Cool, I'll sign up for it. I already have an account set up with the DHS, but I'll also sign with these folks too.

The drive from Chicago to OSH is pretty painless, and takes about 4 hours- you could easily make that trip and spend two days at OSH- and still not have enough time there. Skip Milwaukee.
