do you guys have any engine gauges(EGT,etc) in the cockpit that you've put in since owning?

I've put in a fuel flow gauge. I absolutely love it. Next will be 4 cylinder CHT. More useful than EGT - you can lean by ear as well as you can with an EGT, and gives you engine health information.

The nice 4 probe CHTs (the only ones worth buying) can be a little pricy... but for knowledge on how your engine is doing, it's a small sacrifice.

If you wonder if something can be put in a 150, just ask Jim H. From autopilot to TCAS, fuel flow, CHT/EGT, IFR GPS, etc... it's all possible. grin

so is 8000hours just too much on a 150. i know it's relative to the condition, etc. but should i be looking for something with less time on her.

There are 150s and 152s running around with more than 10,000 hours. It depends on the condition of the bird.

If the owner is asking top dollar for a run out engine and a corrosion riddled airframe, then run away from it! If it has a mid or low time engine, sound skin and spars, then it may be worth a more detailed look.

Strike up a good relationship with a reputable mechanic. Have him do the pre-buy.
