Hello Good Folks, I have decided to sell my 73 150L. It taught me how to fly then it taught me how to fly in the clouds! I've been doing a lot more x-country for business and as much as I love the bird who introduced me to flying (400 hours in three years), five plus hours to go less than 300 miles in headwinds at 60 knts is making me age prematurely
I sent the info to Lori to post in the classifieds section a few days ago. She may have put it up, but there was a "database error" tonight, so I couldn't check it.
N19306 is a good airplane (only 3,500 hours TTAF) and amazingly was never a fleet trainer--though I'm sure it trained a lot of folks to fly over the years. It's a fully certified IFR machine with two nav radios and two VOR heads (one with GS). Those of you who know the story also know that it has a new millenium top, all four holes from the heads down to the connector rods. I earned that one!
If you know of anyone who is interested, let me know! wkpond@comcast.net

Wally, good luck on your sale. You have done well with that airplane. From getting your license, competing in Clinton soon after, handling a real-life catastrophic engine failure with the grace of an eagle, and taking on the challenge of IFR flying it in.
Your avatar has been one that I love. I can only imagine that little girl looking up at you when the engine ripped itself apart with FULL confidence, giving you the confidence to do what you had to do. Not denying any divine interventions that day, you saved the lives of your daughter, yourself, and your plane. I’ll never forget that story, the pictures, and having the privilege of meeting you.
I hope you’ll continue to hang around here, as have others whose needs for aeronautical transportation have grown beyond the 150/152. Whatever you do, I have no doubt you’ll be as good a steward of your next set of wings as you have been with this set.
I hope we’ll still see you at Clinton.
All the best, Wally,
Gary Shreve When writing the story of your life, never, ever let someone else hold the pen. [Linked Image]
Hi Hung, I'm getting an older Mooney M20C. It has the same engine as a 172, but can do 145 knts or more on 9 gph--better with a few speed mods. It's a four seater that can carry four folks, but not really four adults. It's narrow like a 150, but more leg room as the pedals are way up front under the panel.
With all the x-country I'm doing now, I just can't spend entire days flying

Gary, Thanks for the very kind words. You've always been a very gracious person and a great member of the club.
I intend to stay connected with the club and will crash the Clinton party with another low wing airplane just like some other club member who won't be named who prowls around Clinton with a couple cameras around his neck!
You can take a 150 away from the pilot, but you can't take the pilot away from the 150!

I can't add anything that Gary hasn't said. I, too, followed your engine failure story and was so relieved at the outcome.
Like you, my aviation requirements changed and I sold my 152 (22 years ago) and I moved on to bigger and faster planes. I always regretted selling that plane and found myself over the years always walking over just to look and touch the 150/152's that were tied down at airports I landed at during my travels.
You're so correct, you can take the pilot out of these planes but you can't take the plane out of the pilot.
I hope the Mooney serves you well. It's one of the most economical planes available not to mention having one of the strongest airframes as well. Hope you'll share some pictures of the plane and stories of your future adventures.
Do you have one picked out already? Hope to see it at Clinton.
Hi Jim, Yes, I've got one picked out (a 1965 M20C) and made an offer on it earlier in the week. They're working on an AD on the prop hub. Still waiting to see where that goes. If it goes through, I'll definitely share some photos, and yes, I do plan to be in Clinton!

I'll just be glad if everyone lets me on the field! My offer on the Mooney was accepted on Saturday, so if the pre-buy checks out, I'll be flying the speed demon by next month!
