I don't know the answer to this but does anyone know if AOPA actually ever sold one or how many were restored?
When I was on the AOPA Airport Rep Committee - I asked that very question.
About three years back I believe (could be faulty memory here) the answer was:
7 x 152 (done by Aviat)
12 x 172 (done by Yingling)
The 172's were a better value proposition hence more of them reimagined.
