I believe people try to factor in their own apprehension and the horror stories they heard about a purchase. That comes from buyer uncertainty and inexperience of which I had a great deal of on my recent 1st airplane purchase. Thankfully I found this board and its wealth of information and the helpfulness of members.
I do always ask what the bottom dollar is because I don't like haggling and some people price their items for haggling. It is nice when someone that has money comes along.
