Hey Paul....as we walk through this together, I can relate.
8) As for Anti-Corrosion in the wings. Sure doesn't hurt. As long as you do not intend to paint the plane for several years, then I would do it if stripper was still in there. Shouldn't hurt the aluminum, but you never know what it might attract. The Corrosion X (or whatever you use) will weep from rivets for many years making them difficult to paint until that process is done. This is good for corrosion protection, but bad for getting paint to stick. If you paint is as pretty as it seems....do it.
6) Lycoming is the same way (10 years I believe) and some folks are rather anal about this, but I wouldn't do it. I would put it on oil analysis (I recommend Blackstone labs, but the club has some discounts with Phillips I believe) and just watch the indicators. She will tell you when things are starting to go wrong. My Cardinal and 150/150 both had over 20 years on them and spec'd out better than some new overhauls. That said, time is an issue at some point but am not sure 10 or 12 years is. (liability disclaimer...I am not a mechanic).
I am going to OH some instruments and my Mk12D so I will have about $3K after all in repairs and such to my new acquisition. This on a 2600 TTAF, 175 TSMOH 40 year old airplane. The fun, I am sure, is only beginning. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/shocked.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smirk.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" />
