As a last resort, and Chuck may be able to help out here, is this landing gear repairable? Can the corrison be eliminated and recoated for protection and repainted? Just curious about our opinions here.
I inquired about repairs, such as blending and re-shotpeening to repair wear at the gear attach saddles, years ago and basically got a no answer to any repairs. The design of the legs, according to Cessna, does not allow any margin for wear, corrosion, etc. They did not overbuild the gear leg in order to keep the weight down, since these are the heaviest single components in the airplane behind the firewall. (the wings are assemblies of smaller components).
