The timing and function of the 4301 Slick is checked at every annual/100 hours of operation. The mags themself are to be overhauled at 500 hours. I'm sure Charles, Carl, and or Kirk will chime in here. That said, Columbia Aviation, at N13 will confirm this should you desire to call them. The cost to overhaul them right now is about half of the cost of a new unit. I've also checked with my AP/IA, Don, and he also confirms this: Slicks are overhauled at 500 hours.
