Military surplus O-290 powered ground power units (GPU). My neighbor has one. Van's Air Force and other sites have directions for converting them to homebuilt aircraft use. Many of the parts are identical to the "certified" engines found in certain production aircraft, and I believe the FAR's do have provisions for using these parts when normal replacement sources are exhausted.
