Really? That's funny to see $1500.00, the Eighty Eight Charlies were told $8K, and I heard that from more than one source. The engine is a moot point, not for sale, they've earmarked it for another project. The plane has been painted, they were ready to put it back together but the STC was the problem. I do not have all the details, I wanted to get some kind of handle on ballpark value/price, if it was at all worth it to find out further. This group does this kind of work, so I could get everything I wanted done reasonably, I figure, otherwise they're stuck with a unsellable pile of aluminum anyway. From what I can tell looking at it, seems to need dust removal and minor TLC besides a power plant. I don't understand how a complete airplane would be cheaper to mod, if you have one already in pieces ready to work on?
I don't think they would have purchased something without a paper trail, couldn't re-sell it could they?
