Bill,

I actually got my tail wheel sign off in just a few hours flying a Piper L-4 Grasshopper. Some of the most fun I've ever had in an airplane. cubs are a hoot! But if I could do it, you'd have no problem. Pretty forgiving as far as tail wheel planes go. but they fetch quite a price for the amount of airplane you get and you are still talking about a certified bird, not an Experimental.

Those Zenith air 750s are very popular and don't seem to cost a lot on the used market. There was one at my home base that the owner bought and took his Sport Pilot training in. Nice performing little bird so long as your in no hurry to get where you're going. The published 100 MPH MAX Cruise is a little optimistic. I have to keep an eye on that guy when he is in the pattern, even my 150 will over take him quite rapidly.

The 701 makes for quite a little private off airport/bush plane.
