Jennifer, if you have any loose screws, so does just about everybody else! I don't know of anyone who doesn't have a dream to fulfil. I know full grown men and women who never took action on their dreams and still want to be doctors, lawyers, firefighters, police officers, NASCAR drivers, or cowboys/cowgirls, and yes... pilots! You name it, somebody wants to be it! Some of them live their dreams vicariously through their children. Other's keep their dreams secret and never tell anyone.
My wife always knew flying was my first love. I think sometimes she wondered if I would ever trade her for an airplane (never)! She always pretended our marriage and kids was her dream, but a few years ago, long after I had my PPL, she let the truth slip out. She had always wanted to be a cosmetologist! We had been married almost 35 years (at that time) and she had never told me! I was flabergasted. She had wanted me to get my PPL first. I was the "breadwinner", and my dream was "more important". If only I'd known!
She is now a licensed cosmetologist, but could have had her license decades ago, long before I got my PPL (and it would likely have helped our finances considerably if she had)! Water under the bridge. We both have what we want now, and that's important.
I married a Gem (with a couple of loose screws)!
