Loosey Sue came out of annual last week with a huge price tag. Seems the brake pads were worn down below minimum. McCauley doesn't exist anymore and there were no parts available. Solution: New wheels and brakes. frown So, if anyone's interested, I have McCauley brake calipers and wheels for sale. If you're interested, let me know and I'll get a price for you.

Brake pads are readily available. Were there other issues?

Oh no, Sharon. That just doesn't sound right. If that shop made you buy new wheels and brakes because they couldn't find brake linings (pads) you were stolen from. The pads are readily available and about 6 dollars or so apiece. That's completely unethical...

I hope there's more to this story, but GGGRRRRR mad mad

Hmmmm. I'll have to find out the whole story. I'll get back to you. I probably have it wrong. I don't want to think our mechanic is a cheat. I'd rather be the one in the wrong.

Isn't there an AD for cracking or something like that on certain McCauley wheels? When I brought one plane in for a pre-buy, the mechanic said that the McCauley wheels on that plane would need to be replaced. I don't remember the exact reason, though.

Okay, here is what the mechanic just told me. It was the rotors. Everything else is good. It was just the rotors. He said they were unable to find replacement rotors and so replaced the entire setup.

Very wise, and admirable. It's nice to see that attitude Sharon. smile

Yea! Like Dan, I am also curious? Should I be saving my money for a conversion in the future for parts being no longer available for my McCauley system? Yikes!!
