The price seems a bit high for me!
Trying to recoup the cost of the overhaul maybe ?

Good clean looking bird though.

Just my $.02

I was thinking if he bought for :

31,000
16,500 new overhaul
4,000 new paint, decent panel, decent interior
4,000 good radio and gps

If you subtract that would make the "base" plane about $6500.00

You can find worn out, no engine time, bad radios and crappy interior for $15k... and then do all the work above??

I would want to see the logs on the overhaul. For that price it should be a good one. But I would want to know if any "bottom end" work was done. If not, I would want to know how many hours since the case was cracked.

good point Reg... the plane has 4700 total time, but we don't know if that engine came with the plane...

No matter what you buy today, you'll always find a better deal tomorrow! frown

It appears to be a nice, clean, airplane, but priced a little too high, I think! The owner wants you to pay full price for the overhaul and avionics.

$33,500 (asking price)
-16,500 (fresh overhaul)
$17,000 (airframe and avionics without engine)

Now, the replacement cost for the avionics might approach $10,000, but they only add maybe $3,000 (if that) to the value of the plane (I know I'll get arguments, but check Vref, etc. first, please. I don't have access.)

$17,000 (airframe and avionics)
-3,000 (avionics equity)
$14,000 (airframe without engine and avionics)

Is this airframe worth that? I doubt it!

With a fresh engine and equipped as it is, I think $27,500 would be top market value for this plane, and that may still be high!

Oh, yeah, one other thing. She has a custom registration number. That means any online searches for N311SG will return only recent history since the new registration. Unless it shows up in the logs, there is no means of checking damage history. Custom registration is sometimes used to "wash" the records!

That's my opinion, good or bad!

Can an engine be described as having a "major overhaul" without opening up the cases? That doesn't seem possible to me.

I'm not sure why this assumption was made based on the ASO ad?
I would think $16.5k would be a "real" overhaul...

I might of missed something here??

It's interesting that folks that purchased 150s long ago at sub $20k or even sub $15k pricings are shocked at the prices being asked today. I would think you would be Cheering them ON!

Kinda like after I bought some land, I was tickled to hear of the prices they were selling for subsequently. If anyone is interested in New Mexico Land, let me know!

I'd be a bit careful about this one.

All of the pictures are over 3 years old. Presumably these pictures were taken after all of the upgrade work was done. If that is the case, this bird has only flown 35 hours in the last 3 and a half years.

There has to be an interesting back-story. No one spends $16,500 to overhaul an engine that they plan to let sit in the hangar most of the t ime.
