That was pretty dirty, Mr. Hoyt!
To play it safe, Rob, I am sending a PM about another 1963 for sale. Sounds like it is almost as perfect as you will ever hope to find. It also has a little heftier price tag, unfortunately.

Note the edit time and later comment. What can't a guy own 1.5 airplanes. Done
I dunno, help me out -- I note the time of my post that I'd e-mailed the seller after Royson made his post...and PRE your post.

Gee, I think that's what I said. If someone got between me and a deal I had going on I be upset too,( remember the golden Rule)but the owners didn't say they we're talking to anyone else when I spoke to them this morning, after seeing the ad that was posted this morning on the club site. Since the project deal looked like it was going nowhere (it?s been a month and the owner still can?t produce a title) and the sale of my 152, I have been actively searching all the aviation sales web sites for weeks to find a replacement. I have talked to many owners in the last two weeks about their planes for sale. I have missed a couple of great buys because I got there late. I am sorry that there seems to be a misunderstanding.
I found this airplane thru the Cessna 140 web site and talk and emailed with the owner on Mon. Give him a call. It is just to far for me. He emailed me a picture and it looks clean. 1959 Cessna 150 S/N 17318 N5818E Total Time: 4044 SMOH: 232 May 2001 POH: 382 1996 MX-11 Com Portable intercom New spinner May 96 New Paint 2000 New door windows with paint New steering rods 2006 New tires last annual Rebuilt horizon & tach Rebuilt mufflers Engine heater Annual Due by 3-31-2007 No Transponder or VOR Asking $23,000 OBO Contact Charlie Benner 570-374-8826 Aircraft is at the Penn Valley airport Selinsgrove PA (SEG)
I may have jumped to conclusions here. In going back and looking at the time stamps, IF this airplane did just reappear in the classifieds as Mr. Hoyt says. AND he acted upon it BEFORE seeing Royson's post. Then I owe Mr. Hoyt an apology! But, you must admit, it looked, (looks?),pretty suspicious......................

The club experience has been great so far...so I'm certainly not going to let a mis-understanding sour everyone's experience.
Let's move on. Besides:
(a) I'll get a headache trying to follow who posted what when (b) I'm not a big fan of purple airplanes anyway (c) The initial '63 is likely still available that Bart took great pains to look at
I feel bad that any sort of controversy erupted over the Iowa airplane. A couple of thoughts:
That airplane was listed in the club classifieds for TWO whole months previously (October & November). That should have given anyone who was interested a fairly good shot.
When it was first posted, it seemed obvious to me that it was above average because it had long range tanks, above average paint, heavy duty nose gear, and a child seat. It is my opinion that the 1963 airplanes are the most desirable of the fast back airplanes, and I was immediately interested in the airplane, on the basis that it would be great for a 150 HP and taildragger conversion. The fact is, I have no bandwidth for a project on that scale, so I passed. I was surprised that club members didn't show more interest in the airplane.
By the way, I did not see the airplane in person, nor did I have a prebuy or anything like that. I simply looked at the photos and talked to the owner on the phone. He explained that they had gone to incredible lengths to get the airplane painted, a complete strip and highly recommended "Sickens" paint, which he was told as a step up from Imron. (I have no personal knowledge about Sickens paint.) The owner says that the plane was painted several years ago, but that the paint remains flawless and glossy. Lori liked the paint color, so that was an additional plus.
No one here seemed interested last Fall, but I was reminded of the airplane when I read this thread.
No doubt there are plenty of wonderful fastback airplanes available elsewhere, by my figures an average of 400 Cessna 150-152's change hands Every Month in the US.
What's your feeling about the Oklahoma aircraft? If you still have interest and need help with anything else, drop me a note. Otherwise, good luck in your search for the one that grabs your heart.
