And I thought I was bad with the label maker...

Looks like it's already well "rotted" to me - stuff like this can't be worth anything (other than parts) can it?

Must be nice to have that much coin that you can let an airplane sit around for eons...

A diamond in the rough, for sure. Problem is, that even at nearly 7000 and the reserve is not met... I think they'll keep it.

What do you suppose the owners' reserve is?

It's a strange mindset that causes people to keep something even though they have no intention, desire, or hope to use it again. It would be intersting to know and understand the motivations in these cases.

I've seen people who have a plane that hasn't flown for over 20 years look in trade-a-plane or any of the free online sources, compare model numbers, then set the price off of that. They clearly are not in touch with reality.

That may not be the case here, the reserve may be 7001 dollars, but still, the ad very plainly indicates that it will be a "my way or the highway" kind of sale.

Another factor here may also be the older generation's need for privacy more than money. They'd rather not mess with it rather than have someone in their barn for a month trying to get this thing to fly. I don't know nothing about that, though, I'm only 37, but I could understand it.

Very revealing, Bill! I wonder if the student pilot ever finished his training? The engine isn't seized (although probably a little more than well-done) as the prop position changed in the pictures. The biding already exceeds the airplanes current worth with a bad engine, even if parted out! 20 SMOH, indeed!

Carl, I'm not sure if that's the same engine... the accident was in 1970, I'm sure the engine's been replaced. That 20 year old is now 57.

The ad claims the OH occurred March 18, 1976 .. so it would seem well after the accident

20 hours since 1976 seems pretty pathetic. Engine's still probably junk regardless if it were the same engine as in the crash.
