opinions/comments/etc. welcome - looking at a 1977 150 (of course), asking 22k, 6925-TT, 217-SMOH, recent paint-(2-3 years ago), very nice interior, strictly VFR panel, good KY97A and transponder. Individual selling plane, not dealer, seems very upfront and honest with information. what do you think guys/gals? good price? what other ques. should I ask? Thanks for your help!

Scott,
Review the logs very carefully, and best of luck.

Where's it at? I might be able to go take a peek if it's down TN way!

To me, sounds loke further research needed. It sounds about right. Have a real good look at the logs,, have someone help you, get a good prebuy from a mechanic that you trust and will continue using, and if all is good, make him an offer.

Google the N-number (or use the clubs FAA link from the hangar section of the home page)! Sometimes surprises show up there!

Hey Carl,

Good tip -- I googled an aircraft that's in the Club classified -- it advertizes "no flight school"...yet I find a solo STUDENT had an accident in 1970...and got another hit on a forum where someone describes his first solo as a student in the same aircraft!!

[color:"blue"]You know what would be really helpful [/color] -- if one of the experienced buyers could run through the classifieds (non-member posts of course) and give their run-down of why this plane or that plane is a better value...in their opinion of course.

Opinions are like ...... well, .... mouths! Everybody's got one, and they're not all the same. I don't think any one of us is qualified to pick and choose for anyone else in any given circumstance.

The way we've been doing it .... someone asks about this one or that, giving as much available info as possible .... allows everyone a chance to give their opinion and suggestions. They won't all be right, or wrong! It's up to you to pick and choose what fits your situation and priorities. Use the advice that fits, forget that which doesn't. Anything beyond a new airplane is a compromise, somewhere, somehow. Only you know what compromise(s) you can live with.

For me personally, money was tight! Very tight (still is)! Buying a cosmetically perfect plane with no discrepancies was out of the question. I borrowed what money I could afford and bought a mechanically solid mid time airplane that looked like crap, but was safe to fly anywhere from the begining (I flew her home to Florida from Poughkeepsie, N.Y., the next day). Who cares what it looks like? Looks like any other Cessna beyond a few hundred feet! I guarantee I had just as much fun flying as the next guy! After all, isn't that what it's all about for most of us?

"Ol' Paint" as she appeared when I bought her, currently undergoing restoration!
