Opinions are like ...... well, .... mouths! Everybody's got one, and they're not all the same. I don't think any one of us is qualified to pick and choose for anyone else in any given circumstance.
The way we've been doing it .... someone asks about this one or that, giving as much available info as possible .... allows everyone a chance to give their opinion and suggestions. They won't all be right, or wrong! It's up to you to pick and choose what fits your situation and priorities. Use the advice that fits, forget that which doesn't. Anything beyond a new airplane is a compromise, somewhere, somehow. Only you know what compromise(s) you can live with.
For me personally, money was tight! Very tight (still is)! Buying a cosmetically perfect plane with no discrepancies was out of the question. I borrowed what money I could afford and bought a mechanically solid mid time airplane that looked like crap, but was safe to fly anywhere from the begining (I flew her home to Florida from Poughkeepsie, N.Y., the next day). Who cares what it looks like? Looks like any other Cessna beyond a few hundred feet! I guarantee I had just as much fun flying as the next guy! After all, isn't that what it's all about for most of us?
"Ol' Paint" as she appeared when I bought her, currently undergoing restoration!
