I have decided to replace this part now that it has been taken apart and supposedly repaired by me AME on two previous occasions. It works fine but every once in a while it doesn't make contact during an engine start. I'm looking to replace as new and need some advice on who would have this part.

The parts manual calls for C292501-0104, which is a "kit" that includes the new switch plus new door locks and keys. The -0104 part number is no longer available through Cessna, but the -0106 part number is, and may work (call the dealer for applicability) @ $134.90 (EA). Spectrum Aviation [spectrumaviation.org] is usually less expensive for new Cessna parts.

Aircraft Spruce [aircraftspruce.com] and others offer replacement switches at much better prices. (Call them for applicability.)

I have the same type of intermittent problem on my 152, but it is the "off" position that is the problem. When I was bringing her home after buying her last March, I had stopped overnight in Missouri for fuel, rest and weather. It was very cold that night and I parked in an open hangar. As per the AFM, for a cold start without preheat, I primed her and was it the process of turning the engine through with the ignition off (keys in my pocket) when it fired and ran for about two seconds. I always treat mags as if they are hot when moving a prop, but it still got my attention.

After a successful start, warm-up, and short taxi to the fuel pumps, I checked the mags for grounding by turning the switch to off at idle rpm and they grounded just fine. I've checked them at every shutdown since and they always ground out. I'm still considering replacing the switch anyway just to be on the safe side. (Magneto P-leads are intact and connected.)

The rebuild kit for the 152 ignition switch is cheap ~$20 and simple to install (new contacts). Besides ther is an AD that requires the rebuild or replacement every 2000hrs. You may want to check your logs.

Thanks for the input. I have emailed Aircraft Spruce. I see they have opened a store in Toronto, Ontario. So I'll check there first.

The rebuild kit is less expensive, but Robert has already rebuilt his twice. The kit does not repair worn shafts or bushings that can allow enough slop to not make proper contact. I normally wouldn't rebuild a mag switch more than once on my own plane, and probably would recommend replacement for anyone else.
