I remember seeing some posts a few weeks ago about someone having difficulty buying small parts individually. I checked part numbers (some had been superceded) and price for several items I needed at CessnaParts.Com however several of the items required a minimum buy of 100. I usually order from Lane Aviation (1-800-848-6263) in Columbus, OH, so I called them and asked if they had minimum quantities. Turned out that not only did they not require minimum buys, but their prices were about 5% lower than CessnaParts.Com. I called them Friday afternoon and got the parts today. Shipping was only $12.65 for two oil filters, a case of oil and a bag full of miscellaneous items such as flap buttons, door springs, primer O-rings, Oil plug gaskets, placards, etc.

Terrific news Dan...and this forum once again rules!

Thanks for posting the specifics.

Curious as to the price of oil. Last time I cash and carried it was $65/case at Nashua, NH. Last Saturday Sky Acres in NY wanted the same.

$70.44 a case not the cheapest, but convenient.
See attached invoice.

I used to buy Aeroshell W80 through the local "Discount Auto Parts" store, and paid something like $2.29/qt for it. Yes, they ordered it by the cases, and stocked it on the shelf with the automotive oils. There were enough of us at Haller shopping there to make it worth while for them. The store was sold to "Advance Auto Parts", and the new manager wouldn't stock it.

It's worth a try at your local stores to see if they'll order it and give you a break on it, especially if there's a group of you. I see no reason why they can't order Champion filters, or spark plugs, either.

I've been buying Aeroshell 15W50 from a local Oil Distributor (look in the Yellow Pages) since 2001. Up to this summer, I paid $48 (including 7.5% sales tax) for a case. With their new stock, it went up to $64 a case including tax.

GOOD GOD!! We sell 15-50 for around $55 a case, next time we all meet up I could deliver it for you! I could probably ship it cheaper than that!

The wife just bought me a case of 15-50 Aeroshell at the local oil lube store - she said it was $67.

$55/case. Sounds like another great excuse to go to VanWert!!!!
I quit trying to deal with the local aviation parts dealers, they refused to be competitive. Aviall wanted $400 for a battery, not including the acid!

Dan,

Just wanted to let you know of my favorable experience w/ Lane Aviation in purchasing small numbers of parts. At another supplier of parts I would have been required to buy in quantity (10, 25 or 100) for 12 items out of an order of 16.

At Lane I was only required to buy 10 of a bolt which they did not normally stock...so I was pleased.

Thanks to you and this forum!

Hey all, I was at Lane Aviation at Port Columbus three times week before last. There are really super nice guys sitting behind the counter there. They are always very helpful.

If I can ever pick something up for someone, just let me know. I go on my lunch hour.
