I had a buyer like that contact me when I first put my 150 up. I kept him strung on the line for about three days before he finally got wise and stopped emailing me.

Hey Rodg...

Down here in Texas on my ranch, we are knee deep in bovine scathology, and unfortunately until the elections are over, the BS is spread pretty think across "Advertising Land." But this hidden map in the Cessna is on the "up-and-up."

I am sorry for not responding on time, I am setting up an aircraft charter company in Japan, I am working on getting the license to operate from my government, I will get back to you and make an arrangement for payment and transportation of the aircraft as soon as possible. Will a check drawn from your regional bank be acceptable?

A Cessna 150 is sure what I would want for a charter opration <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" />

Well, I know that I said it before - is it possible that he's on the level?

Maybe 150 is a bigger number in Japan?

Wayne,

Unless the guy has asked the right questions (i.e. shipping arrangements, questions specific to your airplane, gee...with a useful load of about 400 lbs is it possible the Japan Aviation Authorities might not......, etc, etc) then it is a scam.

Can you even begin to imagine how long it would take to collect on a check from a "Regional Bank". What is that anyway? What about Exchange rates, etc.

This is a scam...don't bite, don't get sucked in. The story isn't consistent from reality. You hve seen several of our international brothers buy these planes, (including the 150/150 that went to Northern Europe) and they knew what basic questions to ask.

Sorry, but a career in banking exposes you to a lot of this junk.

Jeff, that's the opening to a question I have. What is the best method of transfering large amounts of money between two people who live far away as in an airplane sale? Both parties need to be protected. With talk of phoney tellers' checks, how can one lower the chances of being scammed?
Thanks,
Mark
