Hi folks,

I'm looking for a left wing for a Cessna 150F/G, p/n 0426005-205. It looks like a 150H/J wing will work too, p/n 0426005-213.

I found a few online but they're pretty far, so I am wondering if anyone has any leads closer to Van Nuys Airport, California. I'm new to all of this so any help would be immensely appreciated.

Thanks

Welcome to the club and I hope you find a wing closer to home and in your back yard.

Just out of curiosity, may I ask why you need a wing? Damage? Corrosion?

Thank you for the welcome! I found some corrosion, missing rivets, and a crack on my left spar upper cap just inboard of where the strut attaches. Here is a picture looking through the inspection panel in front of the strut:

We're not sure how repairable it is, but our consensus is that it's almost guaranteed that it's worse than it looks (thus no "easy fix," not that I'd want one obviously), and that it'd be cheaper to just get another wing that's in better shape.

Welcome to a great club.

I think you are correct in assuming that a repair will be more expensive than getting another wing.
Check the Right wing also, if one is bad the other might be as bad.
Happens when the plane lived close to the salt water.

When you first requested a wing last month I sent you a email message (up in the right corner) letting you know of a friend here in Phoenix that has a beautiful set of wings that will fit your plane. These wings lived in the desert southwest so no corrosion and are all paint has been stripped (they look polished).

I see you are looking on barnstormers also.

Let me know you got the message and his phone number to talk to him about the wings.
Check the other parts and we might have what you need from other guys that love the 150's in the phoenix area.

These wings are in phoenix so you might have to rent a trailer and pick them up but it will be well worth the trouble.

you should be able to use your tanks, flaps, ailerons, wingtips and various parts but check to be sure they are all good.

I went and looked at a wing today that's been stored in a hangar for 15 years, from a plane that hadn't flown in decades. It looked great from the outside, and inside overall. The spar looks fine, but unfortunately the inside is full of surface corrosion like this. Mostly under the top skin near the ribs and, worryingly, the front spar. I've never seen corrosion like this where the products stay in one place, so I imagine it's due the lack of flying. The wing is stored leading edge down.

Leading edge showing some of the corrosion, looking outboard. You can see some of it appears to be on the front spar.

Trailing edge. This stuff is everywhere.

Closeup with an inspection mirror showing the seam between the upper skin and front spar. Not entirely pleasant...

I texted a few mechanic buddies for their opinions and none of them were sure exactly how airworthy the wing is and I should seek an expert's opinion. One of them actually called me to say it needs to be deriveted and cleaned at the very least, and I'm probably not going to find a wing that is fully usable without sheet metal work. I hope that isn't true, but it sure doesn't make me feel better. :P

Anyways, I showed my DAR friend and he says I should try contacting Cessna to see what they think. Anyone know how to get a hold of them for advice like this? I tried calling a number I found on Textron's but it wasn't of any use.

They might take a couple days to get back to you, but they're pretty good to work with.
