I'm looking for a new plastic panel. The one that is below the instruments where all the switches and breakers are located. I tried Plane Plastics and Texas but they don't have it for a C-152.
Thanks

Go to www.asod.com [asod.com] and get their phone number. Then call Lucky and ask him for one. Odds are he'll have one for a very reasonable price.

I don't think Richard is looking for a salvaged plastic panel.

Richard,
I think Bill Warner mentioned to me he recently replaced his 152 lower panel. If I'm not badly mistaken, I think he said he ordered his from Hill Aircraft, www.cessnaparts.com [cessnaparts.com] , right there on the airport at Fulton County, Brown Field. His plane was last months AOTM if you want to look at the pictures of his.

I replaced the one on my 1979 152 after I got it. It is a real pita. If you're not going to do the work yourself (it'll require an airframe license to sign it off), be prepared to pay out the nose. Every control cable that is on that panel will have to be removed. ALL OF THEM. No small task. I'd do another, but I think I'd flat rate the labor at 500 dollars. What a trying process.

I did buy it new from Van Bortel (Air Power) here in Arlington. Man, it sure did look pretty.

Richard...........I did replace the lower panel, and all the cables while it was out. Gary is right.......bend over big time for the labor.........if you don
t do it yourself. I got the panel from.......I hate to say this but.......the Cessna dealer.........Hillsboro Aviation, and it was not cheap. Anything that says Cessna on it, you can prepare to pay about 4 times what it is worth.

Hi Bill,

I'd like to replace the lower panel in my plane and might be willing to pony up to Cessna if I could get the original blue color. Is that an option?

I painted my upper panels and they look really nice. Replacing the lower one would be such an improvement.

Thanks,
Catherine

Good Morning Catherine,

I am not sure that all colors are available in the lower panel. Mine was originally red, and looked pretty tired. About the only thing I can say, is call a Cessna dealer and find out. There are some of the vinyl paints out there that really do a nice job, and hold up pretty well too. You might be able to use the same thng you used on the upper panel.

Another question Bill. Do the stencils come already on it? (Carb Heat on off, etc.) I definitely want the original blue and would be happy to paint it but not if the stencils are on it.

Thanks again,
Catherine

Catherine, Have you checked with Plane plastics? As fas as colour,, Something like "Sem Coat" works really well on plastics,, many colours to choose from. Sem coat is used to dye plastics when shops have to replace dashes and plastics pieces, ect, in vehicles.
