I might be stretching rule number 1 here, but the small airport where I hangar my 150 is at risk of closing if we can't find a buyer who wants to keep it an airport.

It's been owned for decades by a local couple who have been getting up there in age, and the husband recently passed.

If you or someone you know has a few million burning a hole in your wallet please take a look or pass this along. It's cash positive with diverse rental space and right across from the state fairgrounds. The local flight schools all come here for beginner "short field" practice.

What a bargain at only 5 mil. I'd totally buy it today except I have to put gas in the plane tomorrow.
Plus I have a lesson. And it's with a CFII. So, you know...

Maybe after I pay all that off in 2023 I'll give him a jingle.

Seriously, though, it does look like a dream. Maybe if we pool resources.

I zoomed in and there's a Mexican Restaurant sign on the airport fence... NIRVANA!

Then I looked across the street, and there's an Equestrian Park literally 50' from the runway. NOPE!

Very sad to hear about this, and where this is surely headed (the condos will be coming soon, no doubt). I have not landed there in years. Note to self: drop in sometime soon (very soon) before it's too late.

Shoot. I just landed there a few months ago. I'll have to go swing by a few more times.

The runway is 2,087' long and 34' wide. Good opportunity to hone those precision landing skills. :-)

I made an inquiry to the realtor weeks ago but never got a response, so sent another one today. The girlfriend and I are interested in property up north and I thought maybe this would work for us.

I'm leery that the airport would be sustainable in the future. From the images I've seen, the runway looks to be a simple strip of asphalt and isn't in the best shape. Expanding it in width and length looks troublesome, as structures are rather close to the landing surface. I'm curious what insurance the owner currently carries and whether it would be prohibitive to get (Is the airport currently "naked" to lawsuits?). It's likely that every airplane using the runway, including visitors, would have to provide proof of liability insurance before operation, as other private airports require.

Since it has no (and isn't eligible for any) FAA funding grants for improvements and their associated agreements, the city or county could zone it out of existence if anyone gets the idea that it is inhibiting surrounding development. One incident with loss of life would give the excuse for an astroturf campaign to "get rid of that dangerous airport and its uncontrolled airplanes" and there'd be no FAA support to stop it from happening.

Still, I'm curious.
