I like the panel, I think Gary sums up the exterior paint correctly. Like Wil mentioned the guy probably has some big $$$$ stuck into it and can probably come up with all the bills to show you but if that is the case the owner is going to take a bath if he thinks he is going to recove all he has into it!! Ugly planes need loving too!! | | | | Joined: Aug 2006 Posts: 815 Member/750+posts | Member/750+posts Joined: Aug 2006 Posts: 815 | Alberto As has already been said, his starting price is not out of line with what has been invested,(probably more)but its way out of line with what the market is.When I bought mine , the guy had started at 50K. But after a long time of no calls and tire kickers just trying to get an education on what a 150/150 is, He started moving on the price. It seems all 150/150 TD's start at around 35K. High time low time does'nt seem to matter, that seems to be where the market winds up trading at. Now if the plane is "drop dead gorgeous" low time and IFR capable, then they seem to move up closer to 40K. And even then you usually have to have an educated buyer that is looking for a 150/150 specificaly. The plane needs to have all the important conv.s (L.R.tanks,horton stol, etc.)to bring that kind of $. What I've described seems to be the rule, there are exceptions(Garys and Bills)but usually the rule "RULES". The guys with these 150 conv.s are alot like the people who build expermentals,or build 250k houses in the projects, there worth evey dime you put into them!! as long as you don't try and sell it. | | | | Joined: Apr 2006 Posts: 259 Member/250+posts | Member/250+posts Joined: Apr 2006 Posts: 259 | Beauty is in the eyes of the beer holder!!! | | | | Joined: Jan 2004 Posts: 4,968 Member/2500+posts | Member/2500+posts Joined: Jan 2004 Posts: 4,968 | Let's play nice guys. He might be reading this board. Yes, out of the market(for the experienced), but don't forget that some folks don't have to sell, so they start really high in hopes of snaggin a big payoff.
More importantly, however to me is that there is no reference to LR tanks which for that kind of money I would expect to see LR tanks, GPS/Comm in the panel, STOL and VG's with new paint and interior. THEN.....might be someone wanting one bad enough. | | | | Joined: Jan 2004 Posts: 666 Member/500+posts | Member/500+posts Joined: Jan 2004 Posts: 666 | I just reread the details on this plane-------question-------how much for a brand new, not rebuilt,Lycoming O-320????????? Obviously, the seller is not going to get $50K, but for someone that is going to put alot of hours on the plane, there might be some compromise price that can be reached satisfactory to both parties. Joined: Mar 2004 Posts: 10,414 Likes: 848 | I just did a quick Vref on the aircraft at www.aopa.org [ aopa.org] in the member access part of the website. The Vref came back at 36770 although there was no place to put since new for the engine. I suspect that even with snew it won't add 13,000 to the value. Eight years ago, not long after the interior was finished and the last part of the plane done, I was offered 40,000 for my plane. I politely declined as I had a lot more into Woodstock than just money. And having finished putting all that blood sweat and tears (and money) into it I wanted to enjoy it and convert some of that money I didn't spend into gas and that gas into noise. I guess at some point there is someone out there who might pay that amount or close to it for that plane. If anyone is interested in Woodstock... well... I'll take a brand new Cessna 182 in trade. So long as the plane is painted yellow . | | | | Joined: Dec 2003 Posts: 25,388 Likes: 990 Member/25,000 posts | Member/25,000 posts Joined: Dec 2003 Posts: 25,388 Likes: 990 | Yes, out of the market(for the experienced), but don't forget that some folks don't have to sell, so they start really high in hopes of snaggin a big payoff. Most people here know that I collect watches. There's one Ebay seller from Australia who often lists his watches at ridiculous Buy-It-Now prices (no bidding). His watches are nice, but his prices are usually 200% the going price. We knowledgeable collectors kept laughing at him. But now and then he snags a novice buyer with deep pocket. | | | | Joined: Aug 2006 Posts: 815 Member/750+posts | Member/750+posts Joined: Aug 2006 Posts: 815 | Let's play nice guys. Truth is, I knew what I wanted and I would have been willing to pay more to get it. I was very "plane specific" when I started my search(never good).Once I educated myself(on this forem), I started to justifiy (in my mind)why would i pay this much for a cessna 150. 1. You can't buy this performance in the expermental market for less than 60k or more (i.e. glastar or symphony)the other 2 seat high wingers are in a different class in my opinion. 2.I've had alot of expermentals, theres no two that fly alike. the 150/150 is a known . 3.Easier to resale when the time comes (at the a good price). 4.certification, to some thats not important, it was to me for the known factor. Their were other things I used to justifiy my purchase but the biggest reason ,"Ain't nothing looks that good with it's tail dragging , but a 150 swept tail". | | | | Joined: Apr 2005 Posts: 9,797 Likes: 97 Member/7500+posts | Member/7500+posts Joined: Apr 2005 Posts: 9,797 Likes: 97 |
