Paint is in really good condition although I wouldn't rate it at 95% of perfect as the ad said, but still in very good shape. A few minor exterior fairing cracks, but nothing serious. Interior in really good shape, and the side posts are the only thing that might need to be replaced. Very little fading of the plastic and the carpet looks good. Recent annual showed compressions in the 70s. I saw no signs of any hail damage. Older radios , but with ILS. A 152 in this great condition are very rare. The last I checked the bid was at $45,500.

If it's sold for even $60K without any improvements, that's a good "flip". | | | | Joined: Sep 2006 Posts: 8,775 Likes: 300 Member/7500+posts | Member/7500+posts Joined: Sep 2006 Posts: 8,775 Likes: 300 | I have never been much of a “horse trader,” and am a little impressed by folks who have the mindset to buy something like this in order to flip it. Good for them. | | | | Joined: Feb 2004 Posts: 9,821 Likes: 928 Member/7500+posts | Member/7500+posts Joined: Feb 2004 Posts: 9,821 Likes: 928 | Does anyone else find it a bit odd that the ad for this sale is identical to the ad for the auction, including the photos and the description, especially this line "The paint and interior is near perfect and has not been detailed or polished for this auction."
If I bought it and were flipping it I would at least change the description.

I don't know the answer to this but does anyone know if AOPA actually ever sold one or how many were restored?

I don't know the answer to this but does anyone know if AOPA actually ever sold one or how many were restored? Yes and yes. I’ve seen two of these restored 152s on the ramp at Palo Alto airport. They are painted yellow, and maybe the original demonstration models. I think West Valley flying club rents them out as trainers. I don’t know how much they get used. I know at least one man who was posting on some forum, it may have been this forum, who was interested and bought one. I don’t know whatever became of him or the plane. Aviat still advertises the restorations on their website. The cost is now about $175,000-$200,000 for a restored 152. A bit less for a 150. | | |
