I have a pile of parts I'm thinking of turning back into an airplane and am missing a few items. I need a lower cowling for the later fiberglass nosed 150, but have a lower cowling for the early, short nosed 150 sitting in storage. Does anyone have a late model 150 lower cowling or the lower nose bowl that would let me convert the one I have? I'm not afraid of doing some fiberglass work if the one you have is damaged.

It has two bullet holes?

So, what’s the story there?

Ha! During 41G's prebuy we found a bullet hole between the rudder boots just behind the firewall Fishing around inside we found a spent bullet. Bit squished - looked like a .38. It was a surprise to the seller. Wonder what kind of preflights he had been doing? The inspecting AP deburred the hole and put a short bolt with washers in it.

I can tell you someone took a shot at Norval one day a few years back and they were successful. I believe it was his left wing that took the hit.

It could come from kids doing something stupid or drug people protecting their investment and standing their ground.....who knows?

I guess .38 Special isn’t very effective as AAA. Which is a good thing for whoever was flying 41G at the time.

Still… eek

Didja hear about the F-4 that was shot down by a shepherd because the pilot kept buzzing his flock? Analysts of the entry and exit holes in the F-4 proved that the pilot was flying way to low.

Was it flying low enough to be brought down by a shotgun? grin

I flew C-130s on training missions out of Little Rock. We flew low level routes north and west of the base at 500 feet. Several airplanes have returned with bullet holes. We think they may have come from one or more of the several turkey farms we flew over.

Arkansas has a lot of turkey farms, maybe the most of any state. The birds will scatter and run with disastrous results if a hawk, owl or airplane passes overhead. Turkey farmers don’t like airplanes because they lose too many stupid birds. Turkeys have disturbing nightmares when their parents tell them stories about being dropped from a Cessna during Ozark Mountain Mardi Gras or the WKRP fiasco in Cincinnati. Turkeys think Arthur Carlson is an evil fowl person.
