It's done now. Paid the 565$ but supervised install will likely cost me next to nothing.

So, in the end it might be the same as renting a spin certified airplane. In a dollars and cents way I'm kinda winning. But it stings to know what I just paid for $1.50 in parts, if that.

From hitting the order button to a shipping confirmation email was 1h, 15m. I'm paying for quick, white glove service, too. Justification saves the day... But seriously, that's good service.

Was thinking about that too. I suspect it is still a cost issue. It's a (probably small) finite remaining market and they can't just make it as a PMA part. The AD calls for a specific Cessna kit. So McFarlane would have to apply for an AMOC and the costs immediately mount for a small return.
