Hi -

When we pulled the engine on my 150M for OH, discovered that I'll need to replace the left muffler shroud and tail pipe bracket when we reinstall.

Anybody know where I might find good used replacements?

Thanks.

Jim

Overhaul time? Let me encourage you that there is light a the end of the tunnel!

I have a few leftover items from mine that you may be able to use, unless you’re going to a one-stop-shop. No muffler parts though. frown

Ha, yeah. Full overhaul. I'm excited and kind of freaking out all at the same time. I suspect you understand the feeling. smile

Decided to go with a small shop as opposed to a big one-stop-shop. Tear down commences this week. Fun times.

Try eBay, or some of the salvage yards, or Flying Fish, etc.

Be aware they know exactly what the parts are worth.

The left shroud for a C150 is avail from Cessna p/n 0450400-23 (superseded to a -201) Bargain price of $5460.49

Hopefully it's your right side thats bad P/N 0450400-6 new is $651.98

Exhaust parts are stupidly expensive.

I need the left one. Found a PMA'd replacement at Wag Aero, same part #, for $159. What am I missing?

Turns out I need an Exhaust Stack Bracket Assembly too, p/n 04503340-1. frown Looks like retail is about $1300. Ouch.

Sounds like it is time to learn about "owner produced parts".

You ain't kidding. In the case of my exhaust stack bracket, talked to my mechanic tonight and we are going to try to go the repair route.

James - I have a couple of good tail pipes and the clamps that hold them to the exhaust. One clamp is good used and the other is still in a numbered parts bag. Let me know if you need them.

The shroud - My AP recommended these guys who will "repair" it for you.

http://planexhaust.net/

Three or four years back - I sent them a flange from an old system and they sent me a whole "repaired" system. From memory I think a repaired system, ALL pipes, gaskets and shrouds was about $1,400 at the time...
