Thanks to all for the Stratux info. But as a Canadian that only gets to fly to the USA every couple years I really have no need for an adsb unit. Besides, a couple (maybe 3)years ago when the Raspberry Pi/Stratux thing was getting off the ground, one of the Cessna Pilots Society members bought a bunch of components at wholesale to make up Stratux units. I purchased one from him but have never had the chance to use it yet. It's older now, no gps and only one frequency but it will do me.

When I got back into flying at the end of 2015, I purchased a Bad Elf. It's great and works perfectly with ForeFlight, my main navigation app.

When I found myself flying more often and making long XCs, I decided to "invest" on a Stratus 2s box. I love it. It gives me position, ADS-B weather and decent traffic around me without having install ADS-B Out yet.
