I'm pretty certain the spark-plug holes come from the factory with Heli-Coils, as the aluminum threads wouldn't hold up in service.

My last cylinder replacement required a heli coil.

I believe this to be accurate as well......If I'm wrong, I'm in very good company. smirk

So there's a good chance then that this can be an approved repair for my fuel tank. My offer still stands. $0 plus shipping if anyone wants it.

My mechanic had to install some Helicoils when replacing cylinders a while back because the case studs were stripped. The procedure is described in the O-200 maintenance manual. See this post and the two posts following.

Apparently she doesn't want my fuel tank. Although something might be preventing her from replying, who knows? Any way if my tank can be fixed with a heli coil, the price just went up. smile laugh
