I will get back home this weekend and will be able to post more information then. What I know is that it was groundlooped out at the Chicken Strip in the California desert. The accident ripped the right gear leg out. The destruction of the right side of the gear box caused the right wing strut to also come loose and the right wing to fold upwards. The aft fuselage was also damaged. The recovery team did further damage by cutting the left wing strut, right elevator, and right horizontal, for no apparent reason than it made their job of removing the 170 easier.... easier than unbolting the parts, I guess. They also appear to have dropped the (undamaged in the crash) left wing onto the ground, pushing the pitot tube up through the wing skin.
To repair this airplane, I have a corrosion free 170 fuselage that I used for parts for my 172 taildragger conversion project; drilled apart into three major sections. The aft cabin and aft fuselage sections can be used as-is, just pound pegs to put them back together. The cabin section would be the donor for the special parts needed; right door post, right door frame, right side of the gear box, spar carry throughs, etc. There's a spare (patched) firewall, set of seats, set of doors, and other 170 parts included as well. I don't think they are needed needed, but I will also include an extra set of gear legs.
