Have you considered just getting an iPad (or other tablet) and an app? Much easier to keep updated than a handheld unit, and it would provide a lot of utility beyond the cockpit.
+1. Heck, for that matter, iPhone or Android phone also give you Speed, Altitude, Heading,and track, and more. Lots of freebie apps, too, if that's the way you want to go.
I remember my trusty Garmin GPSMAP 195. The original retail price was several grand. I finally sold the whole kit and caboodle for $60 -- five or more years ago. Today it is a doorstop.
