Hi all. A friend of mine who's already a pilot, would like to purchase a C-150 to build time for future aviation job opportunities. I, of course, recommended him a C-150.

If anyone knows of a good one wanting a new home, please let me know.

BTW, in Controller.com, there is this one [controller.com] that looks beautiful. It's tailwheel and IFR capable.

For his main mission, which is time-building at the lowest possible cost, it may be a bit onerous at $35k. So I would like to tap the wisdom of this forum for opinions regarding current and resale values for this year and TW conversion.

Thanks

Victor

Looks like a very nice airplane - even has an almost-impossible-to-find child's seat.

I'm no 150 expert and I've only bought one plane in my life so far but in years of surfing trade a plane and barnstormers I've noticed that the cheap(er) 150's that are flyable happen to be the 64/65 years. Straight tail with Omni Vision. For some reason I usually see these listed in the low to mid teens but still look good (from ad pics) and have life left on the engine (less than 1000 SMOH).

Most of the L,M and 152s with good times and decent paint are in the 20's. Most 152 are listing for the high 20's.

If I bought another 150 so that I can have 2 I'd get a 64/65 year. I'm kicking around the idea of picking one up and keeping it for friends to fly (most of my friends are pilots). I'd pay MX, insurance and tie down. Anyone who uses it is responsible for gas. When you bring it back you top it off. Then I can fly my plane and friends get to fly also. Just something I'm kicking around instead of buying a Bird Dog down the road. I'm willing to bet owning 2 150's is cheaper than 1 Bird Dog.

My friend who purchased my '73L is looking to sell it.

Only real detractor is it's past TBO. I did 4 cylinders in 2012, carb and mags not longer after that and he just did another 2 cylinders and battery in the past year.

I think he wants 18ish for it. TTAF is ~4200, SMOH is ~1900. SPOH ~4-500

I love my 150D! Born in 1963, 1964 model, first omnivision.
The only problem with the D model is the very small space for luggage. Not a problem for local flights but will be a struggle for my trip to OSH and CWI. But I'll manage!

Thanks

Won't fit my friend's mission. He wants to start his time-building immediately. He needs at least 1,000 hrs TBO.

Thanks

Yeah. We have contacted 3 in FL. If nothing good in FL, we'll expand outside the state.

The main reason I asked here, regardless of location, is because we are a community. But will initially look for something in FL.

Thanks
