Well I broke down and bought the AirMap 2000c.
Marv Golden had it for $695, and I have my $225 rebate letter from Lowrance.
For $470 and $9 shipping, I couldn't pass it up.

Guess what Dan, it doesn't work!

I'm hoping it's operator error, but it won't come on.
I hear a zip sound, the buttons light up, and if I push one it beeps, but THE SCREEN IS BLANK
AND IT STAYS BLANK

UUUUUGGGGGHHHHHH

Subject: RE: Lowrance GPS Question [215207:194554]

Thank you for your inquiry.

GPS technology, like all electronics, has changed dramatically over the past several years. The units offered today would have sold for far greater prices just a few years ago. Our goal is to provide our customers with service for as long as possible. Because we are unable to
repair and update certain models, we would like to offer the option of a rebate letter which can be used toward the purchase of a new product.

We will need your unit sent in to qualify for the rebate letter.
Please reply with the following information and we will be happy to provide further instructions:

Name:
Mailing address:
City:
State:
Zip code:
Phone:
Model of Unit:
Serial number:

The rebate letter is valid at any authorized Lowrance dealer and will provide a list of applicable units. The rebate letter is valid for 180 days. Below is a list of units currently listed on the rebate letter and their applicable amounts (Please note that we reserve the right to revise the letter at any time, and we will honor units listed below for 30 days from the date of this e-mail.)

$100 Towards purchase of AirMap 500
$175 Towards purchase of AirMap 1000
$225 Towards purchase of AirMap 2000

We look forward to hearing from you.

Thank you for choosing Lowrance Electronics,

Well Marv Golden is making good. A replacement is enroute to me and the have issued a pick-up tag with UPS for the bad one.
I'm happy so far.

Chris,
I was told that the 2000c will identify towers that are taller than your altitude. If this is true, it would be great to have navagating through our part of the country with 2000+ft towers. I like to fly often about 1000' agl but always afraid of a surprise antenna.
