Interested in 150 owners in the Mid-West who might be looking to move up to more seats ( I'm actually considering downsizing). I've got a nice 1965 C-172, 3200TT, SMOH +400, paint 2010, and would be interested in talking to anyone with an H model or newer 150 ( 8 or better on paint/interior, basic VFR ) who would be intersted in trading up.

Thanks,
Scott

Scott,

I might be interested... looking to upgrade to a 172, I was planning on putting my 1972 (by model year!) Cessna 150L up for sale next month. 9/10 outside, probably 7/10 inside. Mind sharing a bit about your plane?

Thanks,
- Alex

Scott

My friend/hangar mate Nick has a '77 M model that he plans to put on the market very soon. He wants to move up to a 172.

The interior is about a 7 and the exterior is a solid 9. Less then 225 SMOH, Slick mags, sky-tec starter, flightcom intercom, and a panel mounted Garmin 196 GPS. Annual was just completed last week.

Do you have any more details on your 172?

My father has decided to allow me to keep his 120 up here over the winter. Nick and I plan on flying down to Faribault MN (KFBL) in Nicks 150 in the next week or two to retrieve it. Maybe we could meet up and have a good look at each others airplanes?

PM me your email address and I can shoot you some more pictures.

Nothing to trade, but am curious about your transition, and why an "H" model or beyond? 172->150, economy? "H" model, door & leg room?

Good luck,

Scott's plane is hangared the same field as mine, and I can tell you his plane looks every bit as good in person than it does in the photos. A gorgeous plane.

I have to ask what advantage you expect to see with the 150.

About the only two that I can think of are the Autogas STC and . . .well, that's about it.

Operating costs are not all that different in the long run, and the 172 is a more capable and versatile plane.

That said, I LIKE the 150 more than the 172, it's more fun to fly, but I have other planes available when I need something bigger.

Speaking of trading up ...

I noticed that Civil Air Patrol has several C172P's that they're auctioning off in a few days; one in particular has caught my eye. I've already engaged an A&P to do a pre-buy/offer inspection and to review the log books. Has anyone had experience (either direct or through a flying buddy) working through their auction process ? Number of real bidders, any discount from retail, back end transfer logistics ?

Any insight would be appreciated !

Happy New Year !!
