In the picture in your 1st post in this thread, the exhaust pipe was installed backward. Its tip should follow the curve of the cowling.

In picture 1589 in your later post, the one on the pilot side looks to be installed correctly, although the picture is too small for me to be certain.

Just spoke with the current owner... The original airworthiness certificate is in the aircraft. I'm going to go see and pick up N61112 on the 21st of January. So excited.

Now... to give N61112 a name... Anyone have any ideas? How did you all come about naming your aeroplanes?

Josh

I've owned my plane since 2001 and it still doesn't have a name.

Welcome Josh.

Our C-150's name is Molly. My wife named it. She also named the C-172 we had previously. It was Mabel. I think she is stuck in the "M's." A lot of things around our house have names.

Enjoy your ownership adventure. Mine (over 9 years so far) has been fun.

Welcome Josh, to the best general aviation club on earth!

Congratulations on your new airplane. We wish you many happy years and fun trips flying it.

Airplanes are like our children. We love them and consider the time and expense it takes to keep them healthy well worth whatever the cost!

I hope to meet you and your wife if you come to show off your new aircraft in person this July @ CWI. smile

Welcome Josh from a newbie myself. You're way braver than me though buying sight unseen. I've been trying to buy a 150 for a while now and I'm currently negotiating with the seller on a good price for a 150J like yours but this one has a 150hp on it.

I've gotten so much help in the little time I've been here and one club member even flew over to my house and gave me a ride in his 150/150hp. It was a blast !!

I named Delmar after a character in the movie "O Brother Where Art Thou." Delmar was the affable character with a kindly heart, trustworthy and true and reveled in the simple things in life, not flamboyant or showy... not a mean bone in his body. laugh laugh

The names I pick are my expectation of the type of personality I hope to engender. As you can see the character Delmar engenders the qualities I would like in my sky going companion. laugh laugh

Josh welcome to a great community - Thank you for the pictures. You have jumped right into the Brave or Lucky or Stupid or All the above category and every one of us is there with you and it is very hard to tell which trait we are exhibiting at any one time. There isn't a person here that doesn't love these planes. From the pictures this plane looks good. I couldn't make out the compressions from september but the engine and airframe times look ok. Not very much airframe time for a trainer if it was in a past life but there seems to be a bit of ware on the right side controls not that this makes a squirt of piss of difference.
I never named my plane not that I think it's silly or anything - nothing ever came to me. I can't tell if my plane is masculine or feminine. It is tough as hell and bangs around my hay field strips and back country strips and nasty old desert dry lake beds and snow drifts on frozen lakes. It is also unbelievable balanced and graceful and is always encouraging me to be better with my rudders and trim and stabilized approaches. It is the only thing in my life I think that I don't consider what it costs me to keep money. I call them airplane spending units.
Stay tough here for the next little bit till it is in your hangar. We are all right there with ya how ever it turns out.
